Severe Storm Damage: Too Many Trees

On Wednesday home and business owners waking up to destruction all across Central New York.

On Wednesday home and business owners waking up to destruction all across Central New York.

Power lines..Trees...Small sheds... All ripped apart by Mother Nature last night across the Mohawk Valley and beyond.

The Mohawk Valley still picking up the pieces after powerful storms ripped through our area last night.

Well, this is to the Leuthauser's back yard. Or what's left of it. We had obviously a very strong wing that came in last night.

It devastated some very old and large trees.  I'm going to have my work cut out for me cleaning these babies up.  As you can see I just have a small amount in the trailer there.

I mean some of these trees have been around for hundreds of years.  And they look like they might've been carried because I can't find the spot where they came out of the roots.  Where was that planted?  I don't know so it could've been over there.  But those winds were so strong that it carried that tree with the roots and dropped it right here.  And the size of some of these trees, these trees are hundreds of years old.  And it snapped off.  I mean you couldn't get your arms around that.  And it snapped off up there and that's where it fell down and it looks like it took a path.  It went right down through, crossed the road, dropped a few trees in the road and then continued down south east.  I don't know where it ended up.

Since you've been here have you had anything like this happen?

One time we had a hail storm and it compromised my roof a little bit.  But other than that...no.  It's been a pleasure living up here.  No nothing, has been devastated like this.  It's just unbelievable the strength of the wind and stuff and take these trees.  These trees weigh tons and a ton to take these and snap them like that is unbelievable.
