Just before 9 p.m. on Thursday a sign at the command post that there was a break in the case. And it was a break police and the community had been waiting for with baited breath. The two Amish sisters who disappeared the night before found alive.

“Recovery of the girls last night and they are home and from here we have a very active investigation into who were the perpetrators of this crime.  The family has been helpful and the girls have been helpful,” says Jeff Stinson, St. Lawrence County Sheriff.

The girls now a crucial part of the investigation as police look for whomever stole them from their yard Wednesday evening. The plea to the public continues on Friday even though police are remaining tight-lipped about exactly what or who they should be looking for.

“We should all be aware of who our neighbors are...in the past few days, anything that doesn’t, fit maybe people that have been much more recluse over the past few days," Stinson says.
