Herkimer Generals Headed to World Series

Take an inside look at the Herkimer Generals baseball team during one of their final practices before they head to the Junior College World Series in Texas.

This is the Herkimer General’s fourth trip to the World Series.  They’ve come in third place twice, but they say this year is different.

"I think we're ready. We're going to go out there and I think we're going to win it all. The only thing standing in our way is probably the twenty hour bus ride," said team captain AJ Fabrizio

All of them are just enjoying the ride.

"It feels great.  Can’t really explain the feeling, it’s kinda like I'm in awe," said Pitcher Rob Hardy.

Head coach Jason Rathbun always saw this as a possibility.

"Thought if we could really come together as a team and embrace eachother we could definitely be special," said Rathbun.

That’s exactly what they did, come together.

Without that they say they wouldn’t be in this position.

"Chemistry is huge. Without it you can’t really, you don’t win. If one person’s getting down on another person, because of the way they're acting you can’t really produce as well as a team. You can’t get along with each other," said Hardy.

The players say one of the biggest traps they can fall into is letting the feel of the big game get to them.

"Yeah, there’s more pressure, but you got to go out and you gotta act like it’s just another game. We have another pitcher and he just went and did his sprints like it’s another day. It’s just our job," said Hardy.

The team says the best part of the whole experience is that they get to share it together.  Their first game is tomorrow at 9 a.m.
