With the President set to arrive mid afternoon Griffiss International Airport is making its final preparations.

With the President set to arrive in midafternoon the people of Rome say it will be an awesome day.

The president is scheduled to arrive at Griffiss at two thirty tomorrow afternoon.  President Obama is the first president to fly into Griffis.

People in the Rome area think it will be a great day.

"I think it’s wonderful for this community, so he can see that we're here and that we need some attention. Maybe he'll look around. We need some help and he can see that," said Amy Surrette.

"Well, I'm a roman and I've lived here my whole life, so I think it’s pretty neat," said April Donaldson.

Griffiss is fifty seven miles from Cooperstown where he will be giving his speech on tourism in central New York.

Kids in the Rome area are really looking forward to tomorrow.

"I think it’s cool, because I like the president and I would like to see the air force," said Deantae Jones.

Security at Griffiss will be at the highest level while the President and air force one is on the ground.

People in Rome say it’s a once and a life time event.

"I just think it’s wonderful that the President of the United States thinks that this is worth visiting," said Surrette.

With the president is scheduled to leave at five p.m. from Griffiss he will be on the ground for roughly two and a half hours.
