Griffiss Gets Big Bucks in Federal Grant Money

Some major federal funding was granted to Griffiss International Airport in Rome on Thursday. More than $6.2 million of federal funds will go to the airport for several projects and repairs including rehabilitating taxi ways, a nose dock hangar and jet warmup areas.

It’s all to better ensure that all planes take off and land safely there. U.S. Representative Richard Hanna released a statement saying that Griffiss plays an important role in Rome, Oneida County, and the region as a whole.
