The College Board reported recently that the average cost of tuition for this school year was over 30 thousand dollars for private colleges. That’s why financial aid is so important for families across the country and right here at home.
Thursday night parents and students were invited to M.V.C.C. for an open financial aid workshop. State financial aid experts gave a presentation about the types of available aid out there and how to apply.
Experts say the idea of the workshop to make filling out the FAFSA form less intimidating for families.
"I think sometimes people are not aware that they could qualify for financial aid, most of us in this business will tell families to apply and see what the outcome is and many times they're surprised that there is some aid available," said Annette Broski, Director of Financial Aid at M.V.C.C.
After the presentation students and parents were able to fill out the FAFSA form in a computer lab with the help of the financial aid experts.
