Fans of the Comets said that every game is different, and even without playoffs this season, there is always another year.
The Utica comets are officially out of the playoff run.
After a tough loss last night against the Rochester Americans, the team's hope of making the playoffs has come to a close.
Fans say that’s ok because of what the comets mean to the CITY OF UTICA.
"I think it’s great for Utica. It’s exciting. I mean, I was at the game last night and they did a, for their first season they did an incredible job," said Dino Montalbano.
"We need to keep people around here and having great hockey for them to go watch is a good reason to keep everybody in the city," said Danielle Buck.
There are still two games left in the season, tomorrow and Saturday night.
Team representatives say not making the playoffs is upsetting but does not take away from the comets' incredible inaugural season in Utica.
"It's been a great year, it was our inaugural year we were essentially an expansion team and you know the rough start we had is really tough to come back from and the fact that these guys worked hard and were able to bring it down to the final week really shows the true character of the team, it's a work hard team and now they'll be able to gel and get back together and next year should be a lot better and hopefully playoffs," said Comets director of communications Mark Caswell Jr.
Tomorrow night is fan appreciation night at the AUD the comets take on the Toronto Marlies.
The fans tonight say that they're excited to go to the games this weekend and end the comets season with a bang.
