The Comets are officially out of the playoff run. After a tough loss Wednesday night against the Rochester Americans, the team's hope of making the playoffs has come to a close.
There are still two games left in the season, the Comets play Friday and Saturday night.
Team representatives say not making the playoffs is upsetting but does not take away from the incredible inaugural season in Utica.
"It's been a great year, it was our inaugural year we were essentially an expansion team and you know the rough start we had is really tough to come back from and the fact that these guys worked hard and were able to bring it down to the final week really shows the true character of the team, it's a work hard team and now they'll be able to gel and get back together and next year should be a lot better and hopefully playoffs,” said Mark Caswell Jr., Director of Communications for the Comets.
Friday night is "fan appreciation night" at the AUD. The Comets take on the Toronto Marlies.
