Central New Yorkers Stock Up on Snowed-In Essentials

Central new Yorkers know all-too-well that being snowed in is no fun. Sometimes no food, no water, even no power. But when a storm like this one comes along, it's best to be prepared.
Central new Yorkers know all-too-well that being snowed in is no fun. Sometimes no food, no water, even no power. But when a storm like this one comes along, it's best to be prepared.
"Just basics, eggs, milk, juice, water, the usual stuff, meat, but mostly fresh vegetables and stuff because you can eat them,” says Cathy Bulinski from Frankfort.
"Just some water, bread, peanut butter, going cheap, might be snowed in tomorrow," says Utica College student Austin Berninger.
"I’m just getting some beverages and things, iced tea, I picked up some dry Italian sausage, a few light things to snack on when I’m snow shoveling,” said Frank Matteson from New Hartford.
Chanatry's Supermarket in Utica has been busy all day with people gearing up for Wednesday’s winter blast. The market manager says snowy weather is always good for business.
"Earlier it was very busy, we had people coming in all the way through the dinner time and people come in and get all sorts of things, everything from milk to bread, eggs, rock salt,” said David Misiaszek, Manager of Chanatry’s.
