Celebrating Cinco De Mayo

Monday May 5th means its Cinco De Mayo and that also means there are a lot of people out celebrating the holiday.

Down at the Rio Grande Tex Mex restaurant in New Hartford a lot of people were out celebrating Cinco de Mayo and they said they would not rather be anywhere else but right here.

"Never experienced Cinco de Mayo before, but honestly they said 'let’s go' and I said 'ok, I'll skip my exercise class and lets go," said Marie Mcnamara.

The results for her are so far so good.

"It’s a lot of fun. Honestly, I didn’t expect it that it would be this fun," said Mcnamara.

Some people came out Monday night simply for the food.

"I love their food three hundred and sixty five days a year, so why not today? Cinco de Mayo," said Taylor Duross.

Other came out to celebrate the heritage of what the holiday means.

"It’s a very strong Mexican American holiday. I really got in the spirit last year and just kinda wanted to continue that," said Ahsu Gola.

For many, the best part about celebrating Cinco de Mayo is just the whole experience combined.

"Cinco de Mayo for me, just hangin out with friends, having a good time, having great food and having a few drinks, so good time," said Dan Mcnamara.

"All the people that are here and all the energy this year, it’s a lot of fun," said Marie Mcnamara.

"The mood, the festivity, you know, the music is playing, everyone’s smiling having a good time and I just wanted to be a part of it," said Teddy Clements.

Everybody down at the restaurant said they're going to be here for a long time Monday night celebrating Cinco de Mayo.
