Boilermaker 2014 Kicks Off with Annual Expo

It wouldn’t be Boilermaker weekend without the Expo kickoff. This year 70 vendors set up shop, the most in Boilermaker history. Runners and spectators say as much as they love race day, the Expo is always something they look forward to.
It wouldn’t be Boilermaker weekend without the Expo kickoff. This year 70 vendors set up shop, the most in Boilermaker history. Runners and spectators say as much as they love race day, the Expo is always something they look forward to.

"It’s nice, we come here and every year we get the headbands and it's nice to run,” says Mia Angelo.

"There’s so much diversity you know i bought a little band to stick my cell phone in when I’m running tomorrow because I heard there might be rain but just in case, there's a cool beef exhibit where you can make different spices,” says Jennifer Wendel.

The annual Boilermaker Expo is held the Friday and Saturday before the race. Runners stop by after picking up their bibs and browse around coming from near and far.

"We moved to North Carolina 16 years ago so we try to come back every year to do it,” says Jennifer Mowers.

"There are a lot more vendors here this year it seems like than last year so you know it's all part of the event that makes it all wonderful,” said Mike Palmer.

Even the vendors say our race expo is one of a kind.

"There's nothing compared to the Boilermaker Expo I ask them to come here every year this is the nicest venue, I was just telling my colleague Noel, it's the nicest people we love Utica and we love the Boilermaker."

The Expo continues Saturday at M.V.C.C.
