The hands-down best-known BBQ joint in Central New York is Dinosaur. It has locations in Syracuse, Buffalo, Rochester but not Utica...until Thursday night, that is. The bar-b-que with a cult-following has landed on Varick Street and it will be in Utica every weekend for the rest of the summer. Even better, it's all for a good cause.
“Well imagine this. I think i have a beautiful spot. I love my location. We're serving the most sought after bbq product quite possibly in the United States and we're giving a portion of those proceeds to charity,
says Ted Kondzielawa, Fuel.
Imagine no more...starting on Thursday, Fuel on Varick Street will be serving Dinosaur's famous BBQ on every Thursday, Friday and Saturday until the end of September.
"There's so many people in our region that travel to Syracuse just for this. I mean I’m one of them. My whole family. We will literally drive to Syracuse on any given night just to have Dinosaur BBQ. We just love it that much," Kondzielawa says.
It may seem like having Dinosaur BBQ right in your back yard at Fuel is the best part, but knowing that 10 percent of your meal goes to a charity that's right down the street makes it even better.
He called me and when he told me I was so excited and I thought, 'yes. This is wonderful.' Varick Street giving back to Utica--and especially west Utica for me--means everything,” says Vicki Montalbano, Mother Marianne’s Westside Kitchen.
Fuel will choose one charity a week that will get the proceeds from the Dinosaur BBQ sales during the entire weekend.
“Which makes it even better because giving to a charity is a plus,” says Susan Miner, of Oneida.
Dinosaur BBQ...right on Varick Street…and giving back to charity...could quite possibly be a recipe for success.
Fuel is looking for charities to fill a few more weeks of the summer. For more information on how your charity can get on the schedule head over to Fuel on 632 Varick St.
