Hundreds of healthcare professionals learned more about improving patient experience today. The 12th annual Campaign for Quality event at Hamilton College was held today. The educational series is sponsored by Faxton Saint Luke's and features health care experts in all fields. This year's keynote speaker was Marcus Engel, who spoke about his hospital experience after being blinded and nearly killed by a drunk driver.
"Through 350 hours worth of reconstructive surgery and two years of rehab and recovery, I saw the good, the bad and the profound in inpatient care and those experiences are what I try to share with healthcare professionals to aid them in their professional journey," he said.
Engel is the author of four books, stressing compassionate communication in patient care.
