After search for dog, noise determined to be mechanical issue

After a bit of a scare, it turns out a noise coming from the Utica National building on Lafayette Street was not a dog trapped underground.
After a bit of a scare, it turns out a noise coming from the Utica National building on Lafayette Street was not a dog trapped underground.

The Utica Fire Department, Police Deparment, National Grid and the Stevens-Swan Humane Society all responded to the building Monday morning after employees reported a noise that mimicked a puppy in distress.

After a lot of digging and a search inside the building, engineers determined a mechanical issue was causing the noise, not a puppy in need of some help.

Utica National says its working to fix the mechanical problem.
