The Center for Family Life and Recovery held its 20th annual Thanksgiving Dinner Basket Drive Tuesday afternoon. The organization provided full thanksgiving meals to 75 of its client families who need a little bit of extra help this holiday season.
The center partnered with BNY Mellon and held the drive in the parking lot of Chanatry's Supermarket in Utica.
Organizers say the community members who received the meals have been extremely grateful.
"We had one individual client family who is with our center and they actually just got out of the car and hugged like half of our volunteers that were here today it was just really touching and amazing, they were so shocked to see the amount of goods that were being contributed to help them for this season,” said Katrena Berkovich, Fund Development and Communications Director for the Center of Family Life and Recovery.
There were 25 volunteers on site at Chanatry's and Berkovich says there were about 800 individuals who helped contribute to the drive.
