#2 SU tested in 69-59 win over Boston College; improves to 17-0

The Orange defeated former Big East foe Boston College 69-59 in a nail-bitter on the road.

Chestnut Hill (WSYR-TV) - The Orange defeated former Big East foe Boston College 69-59 in a nail-bitter on the road.

Sophomore guard Trevor Cooney paced the Orange by scoring 14 points in the first half and finished with 21 points for the night.

It took senior forward C.J. Fair 15 minutes to record his first field goal of the game. He finished the game with 12 points and 6 rebounds for SU.

Boston College was led by junior guard Lonnie Jackson who had 18 points and sophomore guard Joe Rahon who pitched in 9 points and 6 rebounds.

An 11-0 run in the second half put the Eagles up 45-37 with 15:55 remaining. Coach Boeheim called a timeout to regroup his players. It seemed to work as SU surged ahead to defeat Boston College by 10 points. 

Freshman guard Tyler Ennis scored 12 points and had 6 steals in the winning effort.

The Orange improves to 17-0 with the victory.

SU will battle former Big East team Pittsburgh on Saturday at the Dome. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m.
