The Comets' 3-game winning streak is no more.
Utica came up short 7-6 in overtime to the Sound Tigers on Friday night. The two teams will do battle again tomorrow evening from Bridgeport.
This one was a back-and-forth affair with Reid Boucher scoring 44 seconds in to give the Comets a 1-0 lead. However, Bridgeport would fight back with goals from Steve Bernier and Scott Easnor to lead 2-1 after one.
In the second period, Boucher tied the game at 2 just 89 seconds in and Joseph LaBate put the Comets back in front two minutes later.
Tanner Fritz would tie the game at 3 shortly after, and then Michael Chaput and Casey Bailey exchanged goals to knot the game up at 4.
The third period was filled with even more drama. With Bridgeport leading 6-5 and under four minutes to play, Patrick Wiercioch scored to even things up at 6, but Fritz's goal with 7 seconds left in overtime proved to be the difference.
