Gronkowski appeal denied

New York City - Rob Gronkowski's one game suspension will stand.

The NFL and NFLPA jointly appointed appeals officer Derrick Brooks denied Gronkowski's appeal. He will sit out New England's game Monday night against the Dolphins.

Gronk was suspended one game after a vicious, late and unnecessary shot at Tre'Davious White while the Bills rookie lay on the field after an interception of Tom Brady.

The Bills were surprised and angered. Patriots head coach Bill Belichick apologized to Sean McDermott on the field after the game and Gronkowski did the same while speaking to the media in the New England locker room.

Gronkowski will be in uniform when the two teams meet again in Foxboro on Christmas Eve.
