Derek Hulak's stint with the Comets ends after just 17 games.
Hulak has signed on to join the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, the AHL affiliate for the Philadelphia Flyers. His season ended in early December following an upper body injury.
When Hulak was on the ice for Utica, he scored four goals to go along with one assist, a far cry from the back-to-back 40-point seasons he posted with the Texas Stars.
Although he didn't contribute as much as expected, Hulak was named as the Comets' "Man of the Year" for his work in the community.
"Thanks to the players, fans, and organization for all the support this past season!" Hulak tweeted earlier Thursday. "Best of luck in the future!"
He joins Alexandre Grenier and Curtis Valk as members of the Comets who won't be returning for the upcoming season.
