The Comets may have dodged a bullet with Nikolay Goldobin.
He left Sunday's game against the Devils early, but according to general manager Ryan Johnson, is expected to be in the lineup when Utica takes on Toronto in the opening round of the playoffs this weekend.
"(Goldobin) had a good day today," Johnson said on SportsNet 650 in Vancouver. "He had a hip pointer that we wanted to be careful with. We expect him to be ready for Game 1."
Goldobin recently returned to Utica from Vancouver, where he played all of Friday's game and the first two periods on Sunday before exiting.
In 30 games with the Comets during the regular season, Goldobin scored nine goals to go along with 22 assists.
Head coach Trent Cull was asked about Goldobin's status on Tuesday, but didn't have any updates.
