March belongs to the Utica Comets. Blue and green are currently 6-1 this month, and have needed every point as they try and hold onto the fourth and final playoff spot in the North Division. On Friday night (03/17) the Comets added another pair of points as they held off the Syracuse Crunch 4-3.
Borna Rendulic got the offense going in the first period when he posted up in front of the net, and knocked home his twelfth of the season. Pascal Pelletier joined the fun in the second period when he found the back of the net, and at that time put the Comets up 2-0. It was already a night to remember long before the veteran knocked in a goal. Friday marked Pelletier's 800th professional game.
Syracuse would get one back in the second, and then countered for another pair in the third. However, their late surge was nullified as Darren Archibald (20) and Mike Zalewski (4) each scored for Utica.
Meanwhile Thatcher Demko made 35 saves in route to his 8th straight victory. You can check out the complete box score here.
Comets next hit the ice Saturday (03/18) when they travel to Bridgeport.
