Cooperstown boys basketball wasn't about to lose to Westmoreland for a second time.
The Hawkeyes responded on Tuesday night by beating the Bulldogs 55-46, to earn a share of the Center State Conference Division III crown. Owen Kennedy scored a game-high 21 points and pulled down 18 rebounds for Cooperstown.
Things weren't looking great for the Hawkeyes early. After Kennedy scored the first four points of the game, Westmoreland answered with an 11-0 run capped by a Luke Fredsell 3-pointer, and led 26-20 at halftime.
Cooperstown fought back in the third, using a 14-0 run of their own to take a 37-32 lead. They'd increase that lead in the fourth before going on to win by nine.
Nik Hameister had 18 points in a losing effort for the Bulldogs.
