Who are the Western Michigan Broncos?

(WSYR-TV) - The Syracuse University men's basketball team will take on the Western Michigan Broncos on Thursday in Buffalo in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

So, who are the Broncos?

Western Michigan won the Mid-American Conference and finished 23-9 on the season.  They went 6-7 on the road.

They have two common opponents with Syracuse this season, Cornell and Eastern Michigan.  Syracuse and Western Michigan beat them both.

One of the Broncos' best players is David Brown.  He is averaging more than 19 points per game.

Thursday's meeting will be the third time the teams have met on the court.

SU won the two previous games between the schools, which were played on December 1, 1978 and December 21, 1988.

In NCAA Tournament games, Western Michigan is 2-3.  Their two wins came over Virginia Tech in 1976 and over Clemson in 1998.
