A slice of Italy can be found on Jay Street in Utica on Friday. Saint Mary of Mount Carmel Blessed Sacrament Church bringing back its annual Italian festival to keep the heritage alive.
The festival runs through Sunday, July 20th. The festival includes music, food, a flea market and a raffle. Over 200 volunteers are involved from the church and even the proctor high school ROTC. For the first time in several years, there is an added bonus for the kids. The festival will have actual rides including a carousel and a bouncy house. With all the different options, those involved say it's something that people look forward to every year.
“For me it's the excitement of it all. It's a gathering of many different types of people it's showing a lot of people joining in and just enjoying it. They really look forward to it and they do stay,” says Connie Watkins, of Utica.
