The early morning commute for many brought a halt that after a single-motorcycle crash happened in the city of Rome left two men dead.
According to state police the crash occurred early this morning, but the exact time is still unknown and so is the cause.
The accident happened near the intersection of West Thomas Street and Gifford road on the outskirts of Rome, NY.
That's where they found 53-year-old Paul Gentile and 29-year-old Franklin Salcedo, who are both from Rome. The two men were pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said they were thrown from their motorcycle after crashing into a mailbox and sign-post. Traffic was snarled for hours. The investigation into what caused the accident is still underway. It’s not clear if speed played a factor in the deadly crash.
State troopers responded to the scene at 7929 West Thomas Street around 6 a.m.
