It was an action packed day for 22nd congressional district candidate Kim Myers. Myers along with senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand addressed the concerns of the senior community. "I don't want to say I'm counting down but it happens to only be four days away," said Myers,
It's been a long campaign." A long campaign that will come to a halting stop come November 8th. Members of the senior community were able to get answers to questions regarding the future of social security, medicare and medicaid. But her topic of stress was the importance of being a public servant. "It doesn't matter if it's republican idea or democratic idea, that's the job you're gonna be hired to do. It's to serve the people not serve yourself."
Myers continued her day in Rome where she spoke to veterans about her future plans to advocate for them, I asked how the busy campaign has affected her personally. "You just do what you have to do. It has been demanding. But as my father always said, who ever told you it was going to be easy?"
The latest poll reports show Myers and Republican candidate Claudia Tenney closer than ever- but she remains confident. "I know we're going to be victorious and we're going to take whatever is coming at us." She says as the last debate approaches she only hopes to clarify and simplify her message.
"Regardless of what's going on in this race, in the national race. It is not only your right in this country to vote, it's your obligation and it's your responsibility."
WUTR will be broadcasting the last 22nd congressional district debate live Monday night at 7 pm from Mohawk Valley Community College.
