The annual Utica Mayor's Benefit Gala is all coming together with the big event planned for tomorrow night. Tickets are 50-dollars--this year's proceeds will go to the YWCA of Utica. That's an organization working to empower abused women and children, and providing counseling and safe housing. Nearly everything, including the venue, was donated so that all money raised can be contributed to the cause.
"We are so impressed with what they are offering the community and I don't think it gets enough publicity--domestic violence, sexual abuse particular program," said Susan Palmieri.
"We're very excited to be chosen. One, it's a recognition of important this work is in the community. It's going to give us an opportunity to raise awareness about our services to a broader audience than we've ever been able to reach," said YWCA Executive Director Natalie Brown.
There will be entertainment, food, and drinks. The gala begins at 6-o'clock tomorrow night at the Radisson Hotel in downtown Utica. Various members of the Eyewitness News team will be there to support the effort to raise funds for the YWCA. If you see any of us, please say "hello."
