The first State of Oneida County Law Enforcement address on Monday morning at Utica College and the speaker was Sheriff Rob Maciol.

The address focusing on the future of what the Oneida County Sheriff's Department will be doing.  Among the highlights - a proposed solar farm on the grounds of a correctional facility.  Also a mobile command unit and an armored vehicle for a SWAT team.

"These additional add-ons are just ways to improve the services that we have to offer to the people along with always keeping in mind the traditional financial challenges that we face," says Sheriff Maciol.

According to the sheriff, the two police vehicles will cost around $700,000 while the proposed solar farm could save $2 million over the next 25 years.
