Thousands across Central New York are without power on Tuesday night.  That after the hottest day of the year gave way to widespread and fast moving severe thunderstorms.  With strong winds there is prominent storm damage throughout the Mohawk Valley, especially on river road in Marcy.

It was one of the hardest hit areas.   Two National Grid utility poles came down in the storm and National Grid will be servicing that area for the next few hours.

The storm came and went very quickly, but it definitely left its mark in some areas.

A section of the Marcy Road was completely blocked off when we first got on the scene due to downed power lines.  One family was blocked in by the fallen poles.  A section of the neighborhood is without power and firefighters said national grid will be working for hours to get everything back up and running.

“I just pulled up.  My friend was dropping me off.  And I see all of these lines down and walk all the way down here to cross underneath them,” says Tyler Harris, of Marcy.

"We had like six calls at once. This case was the worst one; we've got primaries down all across those roads up there. We’ve got primaries down across river road up here we've got communications out east of the city so we're pretty concerned about that right now," says Chief Joe Mack, Maynard Fire Department.

That section of Marcy Road has re-opened and is accessible now.
