A back-to-school drive happening on Tuesday at the Rome Rescue Mission.  The new school year is fast- approaching, and that means new pencils, back-packs and more.

But some families can't afford a back-to-school shopping spree.  That's why the rescue mission has teamed up with several Rome businesses to create donation drop-offs.   The mission says children's clothing and socks are most in need.

"They go into school with the same clothes that they wore in the summer time, and to be able to provide that for them, some fresh clean clothing, is very, very important to their self-esteem, their self-worth. And it’s very just a really good thing for them to go into with a fresh start," says Matt Miller, executive director.

Monetary and food contributions are also welcomed.   Among the drop-off locations are Applebee’s, Chester’s Flowers, and Taco Del Mar.
