" Here we are, starting all over again. "
On January 27th, Mark Rende watched 22 years of business burn to the ground. Neighbors watched in disbelief.
" I feel bad for the owner, my heart goes out to him and his family. And you can't beat his riggie's. I gotta put a point in for that. " Says John Stokes, a fan of the food.
But looking at the devastation, the owner of Mcgill's said he didn't know if they could rebuild. He says it was the customers that love the food that kept him going.
" They love our pizza, they love our wings, our greens, they're phenomenal. They have homemade bleu cheese, homemade wing sauces. We stepped up a little more than most places, you know a little more heart in it. A little more love. Remarks Rende.
So they rebuilt. And today, they're open and ready for business. The food is mostly the same but now customers can enjoy home delivery, which is a good thing for longtime patrons that can't get enough.
" I love the pizza. And i especially love the riggies on Thursday night. Get them for dinner, there's such a good portion Thursday night dinner and Saturday night lunch.” Says Jeff Allen, a long time customer.
But despite what's on the menu, Rende knows he couldn't have done it without the love and support of his faithful customers.
“I think we'll have enough love and support from the community. They love our food so much that they're going to come no matter where it is. If they live in Schuyler they're going to still come here for the great food. " Says Rende.
