For just three hours on Monday night, hundreds of people gathered to see the historic landmark.  A line wrapped around the huge building of people waiting to get a peek inside.  People came for a number of reasons--some hoped to experience spooky happenings while others were just curious about the history of the building.

Many of those who didn't make it inside by 8 p.m. were turned away - the tour took about 30 minutes.  But for those who were lucky enough to catch a glimpse, they say it was an exciting experience.

"My sophomore year at Utica I lived on Downer and I went by this at night one time and I thought that's kind of an interesting building so I wanted to check it out and here I am," says Zack Stevenson, asylum visitor.

"To me it was worth it.  We gave a donation and i took some pictures.  You didn't feel anything touching you.  Everyone's here for the ghosts and the spirits but i can tell you that some of my pictures are blurry and I don't know why because a lot of them are not.  But in one room, we saw the execution room and you could sense something there," says Nadine Zeller, asylum visitor.

And so far the only complaint about the tour is wanting more.  People that went through told Eyewitness News they wish they could've seen more floors in the building.
