“Battle For Our City” event will be held throughout the day on Monday June, 26th. Two sessions at the Radisson Hotel Utica Centre will feature noted urban planners; Urban3 and Strong Towns. Sessions are open to the public, from 9-11am and from 2-4pm. A limited capacity, lunchtime session from noon to 1pm, will be held at the Fort Schuyler Club as well.
Two noted, internationally acclaimed, professionals will share their knowledge of city and neighborhood development. Each has had their works featured in many prominent publications and each has presented at major city planning events throughout the country and beyond.
Later in the day starting at 6pm, the Landmark Society of Greater Utica will hold one of their very popular “Walks and Talks” on the Columbia Lafayette street Neighborhood. The public will take part in guided tours where they’ll learn accounts of the buildings, streets, events, and people that shaped the neighborhood’s history. Starting at 5pm and into the evening, #NoHospitalDowntown will host their “music and events tent”, at 318 Lafayette Street. Musician Fred Gillen Jr. of Croton on Hudson, NY, comic Mike Cecconi of Little Falls, NY, and others special guests will be on hand. Goodie bags for the kids and information packets regarding the consequences of the hospital will be available. Various events are co-sponsored by Better Utica Downtown.
