NEW HARTFORD, NY (WUTR)---- Now that the 4th of July holiday is officially over, today is the last day people can purchase fireworks in Oneida County.
For the past few years, fireworks have been allowed to be legally sold in Oneida County from June 1st until July 5th.
"Even with all the rain, I think business has been great. A lot of support from the community buying local, quality products." said Eric Closter of Speciale Fireworks.
Area residents have been taking advantage of the last day of firework sales.
"A lot of people are coming and stocking up for the rest of the summer. We can only sell until July 5th, but as consumers, they are allowed to have fireworks and use them all year-round," explained Closter.
And while many find fireworks fun to watch, there are some safety tips to keep in mind.
"Just be safe and not stupid with them," warned Tyler Van Etten of Speciale Fireworks. "We pushed so far to get the fireworks here, and we don't want them taken away.... Be considerate of your surroundings, especially of those with PTSD."
