Even though it doesn't feel like it, spring is right around the corner and the Mohawk Valley will be in full bloom very soon.

A group called Keep Mohawk Valley Beautiful launches a six county clean up today including Herkimer, Otsego and Oneida counties.  The group is looking for local volunteers that will help clean and beautify outdoor areas in the Mohawk Valley.  They say having a litter-free environment is more than just aesthetically beneficial.

"It impacts property values, peoples' decisions to start businesses in locations, whether people are patronizing existing businesses and whether people are taking advantage of their community spaces.  If places are littered people don't want to be there," says Tanya Davis, Keep Mohawk Valley Beautiful, executive director.
