Upstate Cerebral Palsy (UCP) located right in Utica is one of the many employers that will be at the Job Fair Extraordinaire. UCP provides direct care services and programs for those who are physically, developmentally or mentally challenged. Representatives from the company say they're always looking for new members of their team so Wednesday’s job fair could be your opportunity.
UCP works with people with special needs all over Central New York.
"Upstate Cerebral Palsy is a human service agency who works with adults and children with special needs,” says Mike Sturr, Senior Recruiter for UCP. “We provide services in six counties Oneida, Lewis, Madison, Herkimer, Onondaga and Otsego."
Sturr will be running the company's booth at the Job Fair Extraordinaire. He says there are plenty of opportunities for employment within the agency.
"We are currently recruiting for nursing, RNs and LPNs, resident managers, direct care staff and many great other opportunities," said Sturr.
And those opportunities are open to anyone.
"We’re looking for college students, college graduates, retirees, people returning from the military..."
Sturr says ideal candidates are caring, compassionate and willing to work with others with special needs. He says if that's you, come out to the job fair on Wednesday but make sure you do your homework.
"I would encourage them to bring a resume as well as review the postings online prior to coming it always helps to have a little background on the positions we have available,” said Sturr.
UCP has about twelve hundred employees in Utica. They serve over ten thousand families between their agency and their affiliates so be sure to check them out at the Job Fair Extraordinaire on Wednesday at M.V.C.C.
