The gates of the New York State Fair opening in just 20 days now. The organizers are busy making final preparations for one of Central New York’s biggest events of the summer.
The fair kicks off Aug. 21 and runs 12 days until Sept. 1. Some highlights of this year's fair are the big-name concerts including Jason Aldean and Jason Derulo and as always the extensive agriculture exhibits but this year, there's new changes in store for fair-goers.
"At 20 days out we are just starting to button up, we did a significant number of improvements on the fairgrounds you know paving, new handicap acceptable stairways a lot of things to bring the buildings back to their to their historical integrity,” says Troy Waffner, director.
For the first time in the fair's history, tickets can be purchased online.
