It's uncertain whether the 37th running of the Boilermaker will be cancelled or go on as scheduled tomorrow morning.
Possible thunderstorms threaten to cancel the annual race for the first time in its history.
A final decision will be made at 5:00 a.m. tomorrow by race officials.
Boilermaker President Tim Reed said in an evening press conference that "rain is not the issue, but thunderstorms are." He said the canceling the race would be an "all or nothing" decision, with no rescheduling or postponing of the race. With more than 50,000 racers and spectators expected in along the course with little-to-no shelter, lightening and thunderstorm could pose a serious safety risk.
