After a triple header this weekend the Utica Comets remain in the playoff hunt. The team lost Friday and Saturday against the Abbotsford Heat but turned things around Sunday to defeat the Iowa Wild.
The Comets Craze continues this time with a playoff twist. The two losses this weekend were a minor setback in the playoff push but the Comets play three more games this week, keeping their playoff hopes alive. Securing a spot in the playoffs would be huge for this hockey community.
"Oh my god this is so awesome, it's awesome for the area, it's awesome for the fans this is what we've all been waiting for a long, long time," said Jean Allaire from Utica.
Allaire and her husband are huge comets fans. She says the fact that the team is even in the running for the playoffs in their first year here is unbelievable.
"Oh, I think you'd see the whole community come out and support them right now this is something big for us, bringing the comets here we didn't expect it to go this far this fast," says Allaire.
And she's certainly not the only fan in town pumped about the playoff push.
"I think I’d be really excited, I can definitely speak on behalf of all of Utica for that," says another Comets fan.
"Oh, I think it's a good plus for the community it's really gone a lot of places and it's a great addition to have," says Karen Lallier from Westmoreland.
The team plays at home on Friday against Toronto and then away on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are going fast for Friday’s game so be sure to get yours while you can
