The Syracuse Vet Center has extended their services to the Utica area, providing counseling services for our local vets who are returning home from deployment.
It's the first time, the Outreach Center has a Veteran's Affairs direct service in house. In the past, those in need of counseling had to travel to Syracuse.
Starting Monday November 7th, local vets will have the opportunity to receive their free and confidential counseling services right in Utica. Assisting veteran's and their families towards a successful post-war adjustment.
"You come back with a lot of weight. And you carry a lot of emotions. And the best way and I've experienced this myself, the best way to deal with it is just talking about it. It's not always necessary to seek some medication for an issue or something long term, just the fact to be able to come in and express your feelings in confidence to somebody does a lot and it helps veterans and their families. It's just getting it off your chest and that getting that weight to be released," Scalise said.
