Boilermaker 2014 has come and gone and everyone seems to agree it was a success. But there was one thing - that some are wishing had gone differently.
A construction project began on the Parkway in Utica just a few days before the Boilermaker and it wasn't finished in time for the race.
On Wednesday, Councilman Joe Marino says that was probably due to poor planning. He introduced a resolution at Wednesday’s meeting to ensure that all future construction projects are finished before race day.
"If we could start these projects on time in a timely manner they could be done. Naturally we need to support this race and the Boilermaker, so we need to have this route paved, we need to have everything tip top," Marino says.
That resolution was passed unanimously at Wednesday’s common council meeting.
