Babe's Macaroni Grill in Utica is serving up their annual pasta dinner which is free for all runners and the preparation of pasta began Wednesday.
Over 400 pounds of homemade pasta and over a thousand loaves of bread, that's what they're cooking up at Babe's Macaroni Grill.
"What we're doing is giving all 15k runners a free pasta dinner so you can come in and get a free pasta dinner but you must bring your bib and so what we're doing is making hundreds and hundreds of pounds of pasta, over a thousand loaves of bread we'll use on Saturday,” says Jeff Stone, General Manager of Babe’s.
Stone says the pasta dinner has been a tradition for the past 21 years and a way for people from near and far to taste test the city.
"A lot of out-of-towners will be here enjoying all tastes of Utica, our greens, our antipasti and a lot of stuff to do with Utica but we encourage everyone to come out and get their free pasta dinner,” said Stone.
Pasta prep goes on all week. Staff members say there's excitement in the air and Saturday is a great way to meet runners from all over.
"It's a lot of fun, people come from all over the world and you get to meet new people, figure out how they run, what they do,” says Meghan Morreale who works at Babe’s.
So come on down and fill up on those carbs just before the race.
