Bite Bakery Singer Goes Viral

After a video of a Bite Bakery employee has reached thousands of views on Facebook, the local musician says she's getting an unexpected amount of attention.

"I was working  in the front one day and my boss kind of like heard me humming and he kind of just like called me out and was like, 'You could sing!' And I was like, I mean I dabble," said Joie Grimaldi, Musician & Bite Bakery Employee.

"The next day she came in and it was really quiet--It's kind of our in between. So I said, 'Go outside and get your ukulele,'" said Douglas Allen-Leonard, Owner of Bite Bakery and Cafe.

What started as a friendly interaction between co-workers has now gone viral. Since posted by Bite Bakery owner, the video has gotten over 14,000 views.

"I self taught myself the drums, the guitar, the ukulele, the piano. I kind of have always loved music. It's always been my favorite thing," Grimaldi said.

20-year-old joie grimaldi has been involved with theater since she was five. But when it comes to going solo, Grimaldi said she doesn't usually like an audience.

"You always say like, I can sing but nobody really knows if you can. So when you say I can sing to someone and then you sing to them, you're always worried about what they're reaction is going to be," Grimaldi said.
And when Grimaldi saw the feedback on social media...

"My Facebook notifications were going crazy and I was getting these friend requests and I was like, what is going on, I didn't expect it," Grimaldi said.

Her confidence in her talents has since begun to rise.

"I think that's the key factor--the support of the community to rally behind someone and support their dream is huge," Allen-Leonard said.

"If I could do this for the rest of my life and make something of it, I would absolutely do it in two seconds. So, I guess I'm just going to see where it takes me, I don't know," Grimaldi said.

Grimaldi will be performing at Bike Bakery and Cafe for an open mic night from 7-9 p.m. on November 18.
